Guntersville Alabama is a very unique town offering a beautiful lakeside community, a historic downtown and some great places to eat. One of our family favorites is Top of the River Catfish and Seafood Restaurant located alongside Lake Guntersville.
Top of the River has been a family-owned business that opened their first location in Anniston Alabama in 1982. They later opened locations in Gadsden Alabama in 1983 and then finally in Guntersville Alabama in 2002. Top of the River holds the title as one of the largest restaurants on a lake in Alabama.
Top of the River in Guntersville Alabama is open the following hours:
Open Monday - Friday - 5:00 P.M.
Saturday - 4:00 P.M. | Sunday - 12:00 P.M.
When you first arrive, you think, "I will never get seated" but much to everyone's surprise their restaurant is large and the wait is usually very minimal if at all. Once seated and you place your drink order, they bring you cornbread (their unique recipe) in a cast iron skillet, cole slaw, and pickled onion (delicious) while you are waiting on your entree. ...
They offer various menu items ranging from fried or broiled catfish, shrimp, crawfish, oysters, chicken fingers, steak and so much more! Their house specialty is their Riverboat Special , it includes:
- Half pound of Catfish Fillet (Fried)
- Hush-puppies
- Cornbread
- Coleslaw
- Pickled onions
- Choice of potato
Their food is delicious and the service is great with southern charm and hospitality, you will not be disappointed. Then once you are done, you have to take a look at the breathtaking views of the sunset from the piers overlooking Lake Guntersville.

My entire family loves catfish. Here in Cali they will prepare it for you at Ralph's. It is good but I can tell that Alabama has it going on. I have never heard of Guntsville. Is it near Mobile? I love all the pictures, the map with the different locations. I enjoyed this hub alot. Thank You.
