When we moved to Irving Texas back in 1989, we accidentally stumbled upon a little diner at lunch one day. Po Melvin's Diner was one of our many finds during our time in Irving Texas, with good ole' southern home cooking (with a little cajun flair), it made us feel right at home.

Po Melvin's Diner is not where you go at lunch if you don't like crowds.
They are notoriously busy at this time of the day.
Also don't expect some five star restaurant, white table cloth experience here but do expect good service with a smile and some southern charm, Texas Style.
You will however notice a lot of suits and/or ties at the tables, as Po Melvin's is a hot spot for all the business crowd in and around Las Colinas and Irving Texas.

You won't have to worry about leaving Po Melvin's hungry, as their portions are huge.
They also feature a fully stocked bar that serves a number of frozen drinks.

You can expect to get good food at reasonable prices and leave feeling like you have just visited a little spot of heaven in the south, where granny is cooking and Elle Mae is serving it up!
The selection of food is really good,they have a meat and 3 veggies plate, sandwiches, and more.
Here are just a few of the choices you have,catfish, po boys, gumbo, chicken fried steak/chicken, meat loaf, pot roast, along with sides like fried okra, yams, mashed potatoes, carrots and of course a little jalapeno cornbread on the side and some iced tea to drink.
That should do it but if you are lucky (and smart) you will save room for some delicious Po Melvin's cobbler! Of course they do have a good selection of salads if you are watching your weight.
Overall if you are anywhere in the Irving/Las Colinas Texas area, you have to stop by Po Melvin's Diner for some really good home cooking! You'll be glad you did!

I am so sorry, I don't know how I missed your visit by 3 weeks. What happens to the time? It is some really delicious food! and yes the horses are bronze, it is really an amazing display and you are quite welcome for the tour!
